For many years, the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox seemed a duo of losers. For several decades, fans of the two teams were brothers in their long-suffering fraternity. But all of a sudden Boston had the temerity to triumph. It’s heart breaking for the Cubs fans to see championship champagne douse the heads of the Red Sox once again. Boston is the best team in baseball, once again. When Chicago opens spring training next March, they will have failed to win a WS for 100 years. The team now stands alone as emblems of futility and incompetence that has persisted for already a century.
