Piniella’s team all set to win 90 games
Lou Piniella the Cubs manager does not need any introduction to the baseball lovers. As his second season as the manager of Cubs starts, he is hopeful that with some changes in his team the 100-year wait for a World Series title by the cubs will be over. In the last season he was not familiar with the players and their abilities but this season he is more confident about his team this time. Even though he was not acquainted well with his team members in 2007, he made some changes in the team at his own risk and was able to lead cubs to victory in the Central Division National League.
According to Piniella, last years win was a “great step in the right direction”. Piniella wants to settle the closer after the Spring Training and he is ready with his line up well in advance. Alfonso Soriano the left fielder will lead the team followed by Ryan Theriot the short stop, Derrek Lee, the first baseman, Mark De Rosa the second baseman, third basemen Fukudome and Aramis Ramires, Geovany Soto the catcher and Felix Pie the center fielder. Piniella wants his players to forget the yester year’s failures and move forward by standing on its merits.
