Soriano to be out of action for a few days

The Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano will not be able to take part in the Cactus League games, as he suffered a mild fracture on the tip of his right middle finger during a drill on Sunday. Soriano was doing a few workouts in the outfield by catching balls against the wall and was hit in the middle finger of his right hand by the ball when he attempted to catch the ball against the outfield wall. The ball hit his finger so badly that it shook off a small piece of his finger. Soriano said that the injury is not as bad as it looks and he has suffered from injuries like this before.

The swelling in the middle finger of his right hand will prevent him from throwing or handling the bat and he has been advised to carry on with the cardio workouts for the next three to four days. The Cubs manager Piniella said that he advised Soriano to go for the cardio workouts so that he feels the firmness in his legs and wanted him to rest the finger for about five days. Soriano felt that the injury to his finger does not worry him and he expects to be in the thick of things in about three days.
