Martinez happy with his first outing for the Cubs
Pedro Martinez was very much pleased with the pitching performance he showcased against the Tigers in the exhibition game last Sunday which was also his debut game for the Chicago Cubs. Martinez said that he had his work cut out against the Tigers and had also expected nothing less than a hard day’s work in the game. Martinez said that he was determined to work on his pitches rather than working on the Tiger’s players and only wanted to see where he stood at the end of his opening game for the Cubs. Pedro Martinez did produce some of his magical pitching skills against the Tigers as he had four scoreless innings in the game.
The four hits and a walk are not what are usually related with a player of the caliber of Martinez, but he was not worried much about the walks or the hits or for that matter the runs and all he wanted to concentrate on was his pitching. Martinez said that he was in the correct position where he ought to be after the first game and has built up a bit of confidence after the game. Martinez feels that he has a long way to go and needs a lot more pitching practice to prove his mettle to his new side, The Chicago Cubs.
