Cubs to use Woods as a closer
The Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella has chosen Kerry Wood to be the Cub’s closer ahead of his team mates Carlos Marmol and Bob Howry. Wood should be very happy hearing the news as there has been an awful lot that has gone wrong in his baseball career. He had undergone surgeries in his right elbow in 1999 and has also had his shoulder operated upon in 2005.
He said that he was thankful to his manager for keeping the faith in him and giving him another chance to show his pitching abilities and is determined to prove a point this time around. Kerry Wood said that he felt really good pitching the ball at the fag end of the season and was really excited with his new role as a closer for the Chicago Cubs. The manager Piniella said that Wood has shown that he has all that is needed in a closer and his experience at the baseball league will help him a lot in his new role.
