Cubs to honor legendary Banks on Opening Day

Chicago Cubs will kick start their campaign for the 2008 MLB season on Monday by unveiling the statue of Ernie Banks outside the Wrigley Field. The statue of the Hall of Famer, Banks, is situated at Clark and Addison streets, next to the Wrigley Field. Ernie Banks, the legendary Chi cubs player will be attending the festivities and will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch to start the 2008 season for the Cubs.

The Cubs in their 133rd year of MLB season will be facing Milwaukee Brewers on their opening day and have so far achieved 73 wins on their Opening day in a MLB season, which is the best wins by any MLB team so far. The Cubs are the only team along with Braves to have participated in every season of the MLB since its launch in 1876. Tickets for the game have been sold out and Derrek Lee, Ramirez and Soriano are all expected to be the starts for the Cubs on the Opening day along with the Japanese player Kosuke Fukudome.
