Cubs fall but Fukudome Shines
In the opening match against the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs struggled and lost the game but Kosuke Fukudome was the center of attraction in the game as he went for 3 for 3 in his debut match with Cubs. In the ninth innings, he even made a three run homer for tying the game. Milwaukee Brewers had 4-3, 10- inning victory over Cubs. The team manager, Lou Piniella referred Fukudome as the “Whole Offense” of the team after the game.
Though the Cubs started the game with confidence they could not stop the leadoff man as Wood and Bob Howry made two-out hits which lead Cubs to trouble. Fukudome started a 3-1 pitch and made his third hit of the day taking the game to a tie. Fukudome said that he is happy that he hit a home run but was unhappy to loose the game. Piniella said that Fukudome can relax after the good start he made with Chicago Cubs.
