Ex-Cubs’ Manager Profits from 25-Year-Old Rant

Who would have thought that rant words originated from the mouth of Lee Elia, former Chicago Cubs manager would cost a fan $89.95 (or more)? Apparently that was the price for a baseball autographed by Elia. And it’s not an ordinary baseball either. It’s a high grade baseball with the words “And Print It!” inscribed on the surface. This marketing ploy was jointly created by Elia and a merchandising company in Illinois called A&R Collectibles to raise funds for the Chicago Baseball Cancer organization. This good deed is understandable and considered apt because Elia himself is a cancer survivor, having suffered from prostate cancer earlier on in life.

Fans might be wondering why “And Print It” would be written on the baseball. The words of wisdom are part of his tirade uttered 25 years ago: “If they’re the real Chicago f_ fans, they can kiss my f_ ass right downtown–and PRINT it.” Fans who would readily part with their hard earned money to get the Chicago Cubs memorabilia will be glad to know that the collectible baseball will be encased in a stylish contained along with a recorded message personally endorsed by Elia to Cubs fans.
