Hill demoted to the minors

Rich Hill, a left handed pitcher with the Chicago Cubs, found himself optioned off to the Triple-A Iowa last Saturday. Hill’s standing is 1-0 with a 4.12 ERA in five starts for this 2008 season but walked 18 in 19 2-3 innings. He admitted that he has not been performing up to standard since the start of spring training.His manager Lou Piniella has commented and expressed his confidence that Hill will be back in the regular lineup soon. Meanwhile they have roped in Jon Lieber to replace Hill temporarily in the team. Lieber is expected to join in the action come Wednesday night in the battle against Cincinnati.
